{My Hand Knitted & Hand Embroidered Sweater}

We arrived at that time of year which we call: SWEATER WEATHER. So here I want to show you my Hand Knitted and Hand Embroidered Sweater. I have always LOVED the German, Swiss, Italian style of Hand Knitted and Hand Embroidered Sweaters. But for buying one you need to be a  millionaire. So please view my own humble creation. Below my sweater I will show you two lovely examples from Gorsuch.com, the ones I cannot afford but only dream of.
Photo is taken in May when the Magnolia tree was blooming...
Ajour Knitted sleeves and front, adormed with Hand Embroidery...
Showing you the total sweater...
The sweater also has a total of six cables running alongside the open ajour knitting.
I did add heart shaped buttons...
The back is plain, just in a decorative stitch.
With my guilloché brooch...
Detail of the embroidery in wool.
It was a lot of counting and paying attention...
This was the example I did knit from... following the pattern.
Such a dream from Gorsuch, called Spitze Sweater hand knitted, hand embroidered in wool/silk for only $ 1,818.00
Or this Dornroschen Sweater from Gorsuch for $ 1,498.00 in wool/silk.
Mine is only a very humble creation in comparison!
There are two blog-ladies whom I admire for their knitting of sweaters and such: Anett from Fadenstille  and Marlies from Bergzauber stricken. Both of them no doubt could create such lovely pieces on their needles.

Of course, there is Mieke from Gebreidesjaals who knits heavenly shawls and stoles in ajour knit with lace patterns.
Sorry, this is only for the Dutch readers...

Do you knit any sweaters or embroider knitted pieces?
A favorite of many...!

  4. What a beautiful work! Dear Mariette, your sweater is just as gorgeous as the ones you showed. If I understood correctly, you didn't follow a pattern but used the picture only to make yours. Wow, that's what I call a high-class knitter.

    1. Dearest Olga,
Oh my; no I did follow strictly a pattern for this sweater. But I don't have it anymore, only this photo from the magazine I had.
      Hugs to you,
      Mariette

PS I've added that I followed the pattern; thanks for pointing that out!

  14. Your sweater is gorgeous and looks better on you than the model in the picture. What's with those line-backer shoulder pads?! I've been doing some simple knitting lately, but nothing as ambitious as that beautiful sweater!

    Liefs Anett

  18. Oh what a piece of art this sweater is, dear Mariette! I'm very impressed with your talent, I never had one, except my children when they were small girls, (not European, either, lol)! You look adorable in it too and the cute heart bottons?..too sweet. Thanks for your visit, it's always so interesting and kind. Yeah, in the 50's we had nice things, I was very happy too and had many things in the USA..nothing like this, cause I think Sofia is very talented and so clever. Everything she made herself, except for the cake which her best friend makes them as her job, so she got it at cost. The club belongs to the place where Sofia lives and so it's free and she rented children's chairs and the show, here in Ecuador, things are not as expensive as they look. I did lots of things too, like cupcakes and those little sweets and others I brought from home for Cayetana's party. This kind of festivities only last til they're 8th..than everything is like lunch at home, the pool and for 8-10 girls, max! Hope you have a nice Sunday.

    Ger
